BiographiesDr. Leonard Bethel Dr. Leonard L. Bethel is a professor in the Africana Studies Department who is entering his 36th year of service at Rutgers University. He completed his doctorate of education from the Graduate School of Education at Rutgers University In 1975. While he worked on his graduate studies at Rutgers, he also taught as an Assistant Instructor in Africana Studies Department. Dr. Bethel has been instrumental in the development of the new joint graduate program with the Africana Studies Department and the Graduate School of Education and remains a beloved and respected member of the Rutgers community. |

Denniston Bonadie Mr. Denniston Bonadie is Co-Founder and Vice-President for Program Development of the Global Literacy Project, Inc. In 1992, he graduated from Rutgers College with B.A. degrees in Africana studies and history, and minors in mathematics and physics. He earned a master’s degree in city and regional planning in 2001 and is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in urban planning and public policy from the Edward J. Bloustein School of Planning and Public Policy at Rutgers University. He is an adjunct professor in the Africana Studies Department where he teachers several courses in the including Pan-African Movements, Black Civilizations, African Presence in American Culture and the department’s Intro to Methodology. |

Alfred Edmond Alfred Edmond is a Senior Vice President and the Editor-in-Chief of Black Enterprise magazine where he manages quality standards of Black Enterprise extensions, including blackenterprise.com, the Black Enterprise Business Report for radio and the Black Enterprise Report television show. Mr. Edmond graduated from Rutgers University in 1983 with a degree in studio art and a minor in economics. During his tenure as the chief editor of Black Enterprise, the magazine has earned five Folio: Editorial Excellence Awards, a Griot Award from the New York Association of Black Journalists and more than a dozen other editorial and design awards. He currently serves on the editorial advisory board of the Rutgers Alumni Magazine, and has also served as an adjunct professor in the journalism department at Rutgers . |

Dr. Olubayi Olubayi Dr. Olubayi Olubayi is an associate professor of microbiology and the chair of the biotechnology program at Middlesex County College in Edison, New Jersey. He is also a lecturer in the Africana Studies Department at Rutgers University where he teaches the senior seminar on wealth, and a class on the contributions of Africans to science. Dr. Olubayi earned his Ph.D. in plant biology from Rutgers University in 1995. He holds a United States research patent on the flocculation of bacteria, and he has published on bacterial physiology, the biology of plants, and the place of science in Africana studies. He is the co-founder and president of the Global Literacy Project, Inc., a nonprofit organization that has already shipped more than one million books and hundreds of computers to economically disadvantaged countries in Africa, the Caribbean, and Asia. |

Dr. Randal Pinkett Dr. Randal Pinkett has established himself as an entrepreneur, scholar, community servant and leader. He is the Co-Founder, President and CEO of BCT Partners, a multi-million dollar management, technology, and policy consulting firm based in Newark, NJ. He holds five degrees including a B.S. in electrical engineering from the Rutgers University College of Engineering; a M.S. in computer science from Oxford University and an M.S. in electrical engineering, MBA and Ph.D. from MIT. Most notably, Dr. Pinkett made history as the only African-American from Rutgers University to receive a Rhodes Scholarship. He has been hand-selected by Donald Trump to compete as a contestant on the fourth season of "The Apprentice" on NBC.
